Jan 10, 2011 – C5•6 Technologies Inc. is pleased to announce that it has recently been awarded a SBIR Phase I grant to fund additional research and development.
The Department of Defense Naval Aviation has awarded C5•6 Technologies $100,000 as a Small Business Innovation Research grant to be used to develop renewable jet fuels. The grant includes funding for the development of a new bacterial strain that produces short chain alkenes, a precursor compound for high density aviation fuels. Specifically, scientists from C5•6 Technologies, in partnership with researchers at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, are engineering a biologically based alternative to jet fuels. The technology has the potential to decrease America’s reliance on foreign oil and produce fuels that are sustainable and renewable.
